Go to School, Get Good Grades, Go to a Good College, Get a Good Job? Not Anymore!

That's how the system used to work, right? You'd follow the same formula for success that your parents, teachers, and doctors followed because that's what worked for them. Were they ever rich? Did they make more than $2,000 or $3,000 per moth? Maybe your doctor did, but was he/she ever able to actually enjoy life outside the clinic?

Not likely. And here's why...
Paying bills, never getting ahead...That system is designed to keep money in the pockets of consumers. It isn't designed for the Average Joe to come out ahead and ever have any money left over. He may have a few nice things; big house, nice car, beautiful family. But no time to spend truly enjoying his things or his family. Just ask Lawrence Tam. Go YouTube him.

The likelihood of rising to the top with a regular job in any profession is very low. If you're REALLY good, you could start your own business, work your ass off, and maybe make a little more than average after all overhead is paid. The percentage of businesses that survive their first 2 years is low; 5 years is even lower.

The old methodology of working harder to make more money just isn't the case anymore. The new way is to work smarter and earn even more. The Internet and mobile technologies make it so that high school students are able to make thousands or even millions of dollars online. Anyone with a vision and a dream can make money online.

The formula for success has changed. You may have read my previous blog post about change within the normal business model.

The Business Model of Life

Life is one big business model if you really take a close look at it. We're born innocent and unknowing. Our future at the moment of birth is a completely clean canvas on which we can make our own unique imprint. Unfortunately we must first learn to eat, sit, crawl, walk, and run.

Many times, the learning process drills the old formula for success into our psyche; school, grades, job, success). We're all taught the same thing, the same formula. This particular formula isn't working for the people around us; didn't work for our parents or teachers, isn't working for our neighbors, yet we're taught this is the formula for success.

The learning process teaches us many things; including the real formula for success. We're taught to reach for success, but respect our limits. If we're lucky enough to have incredible parents who teach us to reach for the stars, we learn we can do more. (Thank you mom, love you! My mom's awesome.)

Where was I... ?

Oh yeah.

The formula for success that is drilled into our heads from the moment we learn to read and write just isn't working for today's money-making generations. Jobs are few and far between, and you have people with masters degrees in marketing managing fast food restaurants.

Change is Growth

The business model of life changes and evolves just like any other business model. Each generation of humans faces different challenges, and the formula for success must change to meet the rising demand. Do you think settlers to "the new land" were teaching their kids the formula for success used in the 1980s and 1990s? Not likely.

Settlers were teaching their children the family trade or how to barter the food they grew or products they made by hand. Life was simpler then in many ways. Instead of producing things for money, you produced what people needed, including yourself, and traded for other things you needed. This simple life-business model was very successful for many years.

Today's world doesn't allow us to simply trade our goods for something someone else has. Today we barter our own products and services, or we barter our time for money which we may use to buy other things we need. Products and services we provide don't necessarily have to be a physical product or service in order to bring in a good income.

Digital products and services are super easy to sell and effective means of making money. Nothing physically changes hands, because there is no physical product. Ebooks, ereports, articles used in article marketing, articles used as web content, online advertising... all of these items are paid for but none of them physically change hands from the creator to the buyer.

You don't even have to own the electronic product you sell if you have a prearranged agreement with the person who does own it. Affiliate marketing and network marketing are two of the most effective ways to make money online.

Network Marketing has greatly evolved in recent years. No longer do you have to bug your friends or family to join a program with you. Check out my Empower Network blog to see how you can get started quickly and easily, and save your business from failure.
