I didn't always say, ''so what!'' when I was told NO by a prospect. My perception at the time was that they said NO because I sounded like an idiot. They said NO because I couldn't answer their objections. They said NO because they did not like what I looked liked. They said NO because of this or that. Well there are many reasons why they may say no, but I found out that it was my attitude and lack of posture that was the main reason! So how do you develop this confidence and posture?
To sponsor people, you have to first accept that not everybody will say yes and you have to learn not to be so attached to the results. I know now, that the first thing you should master is your ability to accept rejection by working on your confidence and your posture. You need to build that self-esteem. You can't start a networking business and not learn how to manage the rejections and respond to the objections. If you can handle rejection in a positive way, you are empowering yourself to be a better communicator and leader. This is the first step. I figured that out pretty quickly.
When I was first faced with rejection, it would suck the energy and confidence out of me and I would be freaking out just thinking about my next phone call or face to face meeting. I had to find a solution. Giving up was on my mind! I needed to sponsor people, or else forget about my dream of working from home. I thought recruiting was not for me and that I would never get to be good at it. Well, I found something that changed the way I handled rejections and objections forever! It was a video interview with Mike Dillard, and master recruiter Mark Wieser.
In this video, Mark gets grilled by Mike on how he is able to personally sponsor 254 reps in one year and most important, do it with ease! With the guys' help, I found out that having confidence and posture is crucial to my success with sponsoring. I am now on my way. It really works!
I figured out that I needed to change the way that I was talking to the prospects. By changing the way that I approached the conversation and the attitude that I had in the conversation, I saw a major change in my confidence. Now, even if someone says no, I accept it with grace. I learned not to be attached to the results. A NO does not suck the energy out of me anymore. Of course the objective is to sponsor as many people as we can, but learn the basics first. It doesn't happen overnight, but when you master it, it's like magic!
I now can speak to people on the phone or face to face and am not getting as many no's, because my prospects see the confidence and posture and are more inclined to join me. Would you rather work with a leader or a follower? Would you rather be a leader or a follower? If you want people to see you as a leader, you must exude confidence and posture. I started to sponsor more people because of it, so if you want to learn how I overcame my fear of rejection and insecurity, gained confidence and dramatically improved my posture, you need to see this free one hour video interview!
Enjoy the free interview!
